About Us
Putmans, the well-known Walton-on-the-Naze photographic studio, was founded in 1921.
David West and Peter Frost were partners for more than 30 years and are both well known and respected members of the profession. They were both Associates of the British Institute of Professional Photography, Associates of the Master Photographers Association and members of the exclusive Kodak Gold Circle and the Guild of Wedding Photographers. In 2005 David chose to retire from the business and now Peter continues working but only in a scaled down way from a home address.
Putmans are known as 'The Award Winners' having gained so many national awards for their photography over the past thirty years. They have won six of the coveted Kodak Gold Awards and six Fuji Wedding Photography Awards as well as numerous other national competitions. Their most recent success was with a portrait of a Dovercourt family which took third prize, out of more than a quarter of a million entries, in a competition organised by the Master Photographers Association and The News of the World.
The walls of thousands of homes throughout the area are graced with a Putmans portrait.
Putmans were renowned for their classic style wedding photography and regularly travelled throughout East Anglia to church and civil ceremonies. More than 45 years of experience ensured a photo problem-free wedding day.
In 2006 Peter chose to photograph his last wedding. He is still so passionate about the high quality of the Italian wedding and portrait albums that he has supplied to his clients for so many years he now sells these albums direct to the public. They are normally only available to professional photographers.
